Dr. Maggie Augustyn is a practicing general dentist, owner of Happy Tooth, author and inspirational speaker. She has the distinguished honor of being voted “America’s Best Dentist” and “America’s Top Dentists” based on superior training, experience, continuing education and commitment to excellence. She’s been given the Dental Excellence and Best of Elmhurst Awards.
She completed her formal dental education earning a doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Prior to that, she was awarded two Bachelor’s degrees (UIC and Benedictine University). Immediately post graduation she completed the course sequence at the renowned Dawson Academy. Benedictine University awarded her The Rising Star Award presented to an alumnus who has made considerable strides in their career and has demonstrated dedication to philanthropic endeavors. Dr. Augustyn has a growth mindset consistently completing 5 times the annual requirement of continuing education required by dentists in Illinois. She is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontists and is an exam short of her Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Augustyn has been named among Dentistry Today’s top 250 leaders in dental consulting.
Dr. Augustyn is one of dentistry’s most prolific writers and a frequent contributor to Academy of General Dentistry’s Impact, Dental Entrepreneur Woman, Dental Entrepreneur, Dental Economics and DentistryIQ. She takes most pride in her role as a columnist of “Mindful Moments” at Dentistry Today. Dr. Maggie has been nominated as Author of The Year at the Dental Festival. She reads, researches, writes, and speaks on the things that make us human, that make us hurt, and that make us come alive.
Her personal mission is to ignite people towards a journey of a less tainted self-actualization. Though she has no intention of stepping away from holding a handpiece, she is joining a movement of promoting a paradigm shift in dentistry: a much-needed transition uniting what we experience inside the operatory and that which lies outside of it.
She eloquently speaks on giving attention to the things that we suppress in the hopes of making us feel less alone and more connected. She evokes emotion in her audiences, awakening all to the beauty of our chosen paths. She has spoken for study club audiences, has been a keynote to 300+ groups of dental professionals and is scheduled both to speak internationally and to keynote a meeting of 1200+ attendants. She has also been featured on various podcasts and lectures nationally teaching how to create a well-balanced initiative toward leading a fulfilling life as multidimensional humans.
Education:
Dr. Augustyn earned her doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) after completing two Bachelor’s degrees from UIC and Benedictine University.
Post-doctorate Education:
Post-graduation, she furthered her expertise by completing the course sequence at the renowned Dawson Academy in oral equilibration and cosmetic dentistry. She continues to enhance her skills with hundreds of hours of continuing education in various dental specialties, including Orthodontics, Implantology, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Cosmetic dentistry, Practice management and Endodontics.

She was one of the first columnists at Dentistry Today running a monthly column titled “Mindful Moments.” She is also the first wellness contributor for AGD (Academy of General Dentistry) Impact with a quarterly column. She is actively involved in the publication of Dental Entrepreneur and Dental Entrepreneur Woman (DeW). She has also authored content for Dental Economics and Dentistry IQ.
